You take care of your home. You invest in it to improve its efficiency and curb appeal. What sometimes goes unnoticed or taken for granted is your home’s roof. Working around the clock, your roof is exposed to the harsh weather conditions Florida has to offer. 

Your roof’s purpose is to protect your home from water and other outside elements from coming inside. It is important to keep up with routine maintenance and minor roofing repairs to ensure that your roof continues to keep your home dry and your family safe.  

There are a few concerns that you should look for when you think it may be time for residential re-roofing. A few of those are: 

• Age of the Roof- If your roof is at least 20 years old, it most likely is time to consider getting your roof replaced. Even though shingles were created to be durable, there are many outside factors that can speed up the aging of the shingles on your roof.
• Curling, Cracking, or Lifting shingles- When shingles have been exposed to the elements for long periods of time, you will be able to see that they are curling or lifting, allowing moisture to collect underneath. The moisture can create the growth of moss or mold and allow water to leak into your home.
• Missing Shingles- If you are starting to notice that there are areas of shingles missing from your roof or there is sunlight shining through to your attic, this means that your home is no longer being protected and it is time for a replacement.
• Shingle Granules- As a shingle's life begins to come to an end, they will start to lose granules. You will find these granules in your gutters, or laying around the exterior of your home. Old shingles erode and brake, causing this to happen.
